Rowing Down the Loire - Such a great week!!!

Such a great week! Yes that is what we (participants) will remember from that week in France... Which week you might ask? Just have a look, you will understand!
The Rennes Etudiant Club Aviron a rowing club in France invited rowers from City of Bristol Rowing Club (UK rowing club) and Lausanne Sport Aviron (1st rowing club is Switzerland) to row with them down the Loire river for a week in July 2007: 3 Swiss and 4 British rowers joined the French for this week.
Between the 14th and 21st of July, Tom, Gav, John and Gildas from Bristol, Elena, Gael and Emmanuelle from Lausanne and Nicolas, Jerome, Sagar, Guillaume, Josselin, Valérie, Agnès, Cécile, Samuel, Eric, Christian, Ulrich... we all met up in France for a week of rowing, wine tasting, bike ridding, "restauranting", tanning...!
We left from Tours the 15th of July and rowed between 30 and 70 km per days to finally arrive in Nantes the 19t
Host rowing club: REC Aviron
h of July... Everyday we stopped in a town and camped at the "camping municipal". We also had time to enjoy the restaurants, to visit vignards, to make the most of the camp sites swimming pools! We also made the most of the sun :) Josselin made us discover very typical restaurants in Anjou, Guillaume organised a palet (breton traditional game) tournament, Nicolas was our guide on the Loire!
After that week, we went in Brittany where we did a bit of coastal rowing... The waves were amazing! It felt just excellent to surf them. It was also the occasion to visit the REC Aviron boat house; we row in an 8+ and partied there... but after the party it was already the end of that week... I can't wait for next time!
Propositions for next time: inviting people in Bristol, going in Switzerland... or eventually going somewhere else all together!
